Dear Friend,
Thank you for supporting the Right Care Right Deal coalition in its effort to improve social care. During the last year we have seen a lot of political activity on the issue of care. Last July the Government launched a four month consultation on ‘Shaping the future of care together’ their Green paper outlining their proposals to improve care in the future and are due to publish a White Paper shortly with firm proposals.
As we get nearer to a General Election political parties have made further pledges. The Conservative party have proposed an insurance scheme against the future costs of residential while the Labour party has promised free personal care for people with critical needs living in their own homes.
The care system is in crisis - routinely letting down older people, their families and carers. Reforming the system and providing new funding must be an urgent priority and we are urging all the political parties to guarantee action on this issue and we need your support to make sure this issue stays at the top of the political agenda.
The Right Care Right Deal coalition was formed by Age Concern and Help the Aged, Carers UK and Counsel and Care. All of our organisations have worked together to push politicians to improve the care system. However, Right Care Right Deal, the formal coalition that our organisations have worked together under will no longer exist. We will of course continue to work together in order to make sure the quality of social care that people receive is improved. If you would like to continue to receive campaign updates from any of the organisations involved, please follow the links below.
